At just 80 g, the Pinlock is only about half the weight of a steel carabiner, just as easy to use and particularly safe, because the problem of material fatigue known from conventional carabiners is not an issue for it thanks to its form-fit lock. In the fatigue test, the Pinlock endured 5,000,000 load cycles with an upper load of 425 daN without any damage. The risk of fracture due to material fatigue can thus be excluded for both paraglider mono operation and tandem use.
The paraglider risers are attached in a similar way to conventional carabiners. The ball lock pin closure has an automatic locking mechanism and is designed in such a way that two different manual actions are required to open it: Pressing the release button and pulling the quickpin in the opposite direction.
Unlike conventional carabiners, Pinlocks are drop-forged instead of bent. While bending weakens the carabiner in the bending areas due to internal stresses, drop forging leads to significantly improved material hardness. In addition, the strength of the aluminum alloy used is comparable to that of high-quality stainless steel, but it weighs only about a third.
- Easy handling and effortless release of the risers after landing
- Disconnecting the paraglider after a reserve deployment is possible if the risers are unloaded.
- Separate belt chambers prevent twisting of the carabiner
- Suitable for harnesses with up to 44 mm webbing width & paraglider risers up to 25 mm
- Drop-forged from high-strength aluminum alloy 7075 T6
- Self-locking ball lock pin
- Replaceable safety line made of DuPont high performance nylon designed for deep sea fishing
